President Jonathan sacks Service Chiefs, appoints new ones

President Jonathan has sacked Nigeria's Service Chiefs and appointed new ones.

According to a statement by Presidential spokesperson, Reuben Abati, Air Marshall Alex Badeh is the new Chief of Defence Staff, replacing Admiral Ola Ibrahim. Major-General Kenneth Tobiah Jacob Minimah takes over from Lt.-General Azubike O. Ihejirika as Chief of Army Staff.

I dated one of my brother's best friends for a year and two months and broke up with him just last November. My ex has moved on and so have I but what pisses me off right now is that my brother is still friends with this dude. I'm angry at that because our relationship ended because his friend cheated on me with someone in our inner circle. I expected my brother to at least have my back and be on my side on this one but he's still hanging out with my ex and even going out with him and his new girlfriend (not the girl he cheated on me with). I confronted him some days ago and he said what we had was between us and he never got involved and their friendship is between them and I shouldn't get involved. I'm currently not on speaking terms with my brother because I feel betrayed by him. I was hurt by his friend and he would continue to be friends with him? Where's the loyalty? I've cut him out of my life until he cuts his friend out of his life. My brother is wrong for still being friends with a man that hurt his baby sister, is he not?

Karen Igho currently undergoing cancer treatment in the UK

In December, the BBA winner and actress tweeted that she had cancer (if you missed it, read it here) and not much has been heard from her since then. At the time she was awaiting results that indicated she had breast cancer. It's been confirmed and she is currently undergoing treatment in a UK hospital. All the best to her!

"I have not resigned" - PDP chairman Bamanga Tukur

Alhaji Bamanga Tukur is still the chairman of PDP. His media aide just released a statement denying earlier reports that he's resigned.

8 out of 10 Nigerian men don't use condoms - SFH survey

       

According to statistics, 8 out of 10 Nigerian men do not use condoms. This was revealed by Bright Ekweremadu, the Managing Director of Society for Family Health, SFH. He said over 1.8billion sexual activities occur in Nigeria yearly, and 80% of them are unprotected.

Mr Ekweremadu said if Nigerian men were to use condoms, no supplier in the world would be able to afford the quantity of condoms Nigerian men would need. He said their research showed that young Nigerians between 18 and 34 years in the cities of Lagos & Abuja make the highest use of condoms.

He said many sexually active Nigerian men have several excuses for not wanting to use condoms. Excuses like "I am healthy, I dont have infections, flesh to flesh is sweeter" etc...

He said there are so many cases of sexually transmitted diseases and unwanted pregnancies reported yearly because of people's refusal to use condoms. He also said their research shows that the women don't insist on condoms.
